I’m back playing EQ2 as my ‘solo’ game, I play Guild Wars 2 and SWTOR with friends and family so EQ2 is my game to play when my partner is raiding in WoW.
Travelling around the world I’m often taken back by the beautiful world design.
It’s a game that invites me to explore the world around me, and one that I’m happy to ‘waste’ time doing so without any real goal. Of course the fact that any character can gather any resource (if they’ve practiced enough!) makes it that much easier to roam around as you can be gathering wood or ore and of course, the odd shiny collectible!
It’s the game that keeps drawing me back in, whether for 20 minutes crafting or for 2 hours of questing and exploring. Other MMOs may eventually catchup on content, but that’s the one big advantage an old MMORPG like EQ2 has in spades; the world is overflowing with fun stuff to do.
