Playing multiple characters

In theory I could play just one character in Guild Wars 2 and complete every zone, heart, achievement etc on that single character. This is an unusual situation to be in, I usually play MMOs with my partner or friends from WoW days or relatives or any combo of those options. So I tend to have a stable of characters for the purpose of not out-leveling the others I am playing with.

In Guild Wars 2, with the enforced auto-mentoring it is easy to play one character with any friends whose characters are lower than you. It works well, one friend who I have played with is 10+ levels higher than my character yet when he joins my asura I notice no real difference in relative character power.

I however won’t be sticking to one character, since MMORPGs have that RPG bit at the end. I still love to create different characters and to explore different professions/classes. So rather than go 100% mesmer for 80 levels, I’m much happier playing a session of mesmer, another of necromancer and the odd session of elementalist. Whether I keep going with all three depends on the people I play with in part, but I enjoy variety of play sessions for sure.
