So Mists of Pandaria will be out on 25th Sept. I didn’t immediately post this as I’m not at all excited about it. Sad to say really as WoW kept me captivated throughout Burning Crusade (I joined in 2007) and Wrath. It was only in the Cataclysm era that I truly lost interest in the game.
There’s plenty of reasons for this, but I think the continued simplification of the game; and the distancing of the gameplay from ‘playing your chosen character in the open world’ are the main reasons. My annual sub finishes in October but I shan’t be buying the MoP expansion, a first for me. It truly is the end of an era!
Instead I shall be either be solely focused on Guild Wars 2, if that proves to have some longevity, otherwise I’ll be playing LoTRO or Eden Eternal. My masters studies will start again in Oct so this is an appropriate time to take a break from gaming subscriptions, it’ll be the first time since March 2007 that I have been completely subscription free.
Heh, I just wanted to say that it’s funny that I used almost exactly the same post title when I announced that I was cancelling my WoW subscription several months ago. It sure is a game that has had a big impact on many people who’ve played it.
Certainly has, I’m not sure if I’ll ever play one MMO for that long a timespan ever again.
