I shall be ‘afk’ for a week, without Internet access, so there’ll be no gaming and no blogging either probably. Although I shall no doubt miss some big news stories or events in game it’s nice to unplug occasionally and concentrate on other things.
Before I go I see today that Sony are selling off their Euro servers to Pro Sieben Games. This makes me worried and rather sad, split communities are never good for a MMO and to be honest I haven’t had good experiences of managed games – Codemasters consistently under resourced DDO and LoTRO for the years I played their service. It’ll mean delays on patches and news probably.
Also ArenaNet have announced a 48 hour sign-up window of the beta of Guild Wars 2. I’ll skip this not only because I’m about to go away. I decided long ago that I will be buying GW2, it’s a given. For me beta access is a great way to test the waters on a game, to see if I may like it – this was the case with SWTOR as a recent example. Since I know I’ll love GW2 at least enough to justify the one-off payment I see no reason for spoilers on the storylines, better to play those in the more polished format at launch.
