So I carried on with some missions on Tatooine in tonights session. I noticed, perhaps for the first time, that roads aren’t so much roads as vague discolourations in the sand. This makes sense of course, but it also means it’s very easy to stray off said road and hit an encounter if you aren’t paying attention. Mobs are pretty sparse in the open desert though, again no suprise there and I’m glad it’s that way – if every square foot of sand had dangerous creatures on it wouldn’t seem much like the Tatooine of film or novel.
Next pic is Cerian mid-cheer, I’d just succeeded on my third attempt at taking out a tough end of mission-chain boss fight. It took me three attempts to complete it, quite a tight fight there, buff stim made a difference as did having one of the three mobs dead from the previous attempts. Also it’s nice to see another stalwart race, the Gamorreans, appearing on Tatooine.
After that I took stock of my crafting situation and realised I was pretty far behind gathering vs crafting skill levels.
I started late on diplomacy as I’d started with slicing as a third skill, the real problem is that my actual crafting skill, Biochem, is 40 odd points behind my primary gathering skill, Bioanalysis. This means sadly that I’m gathering ingredients on Tatooine that I can’t yet use, and worse I’m not in the right place to gather the tier 2 ingredients I *do* need.
Of course I’ve been in this situation in several games before so I knew the solution was to head back and do an old area. So back to Nar Shaddaa I went. I have missions left to do there, both them and the mobs are green to me now but at least I still get some XP. So I spent some time wandering around old haunts to find the right bioanalysis nodes.
The difference now of course is I have a speeder so I can move around the cavernous halls of this city-planet that much faster as I hunt for bizarre plant species…

You can still get full xp for a level or 2 after mobs go gray, actually. Once a mission goes gray it’s worth 5 xp, though.
Interesting, thanks for the clarification!
